Lum’s Chapter 7 divides the skills required to maintain a cultural competent practice into various processing and conceptualization skills. (READING ATTACHED BELOW)
For each set of skills I have pulled a concept or two (2) that I ask that your briefly describe:
Contact Process Skills: What is “Professional Self-Disclosure.” What levels of self-disclosure exists?
Problem Process Skills: What is “Problem Orientation” and “Reframing the Problem.” Why do they make us more culturally competent? What is an “Inductive Approach?”
Assessment Process Skills: How does spirituality and culture fit into this skill?
Intervention Process Skills. Define micro, meso and macro interventions.
Evaluation Process Skills. Why does Lum say that “different cultures have different ways of saying goodbye.”
